26NTC scholarship and volunteering application

To make the NTC more accessible, we offer both scholarships and volunteer opportunities. Spots are limited, so early applications are encouraged. You can apply for a scholarship, a volunteer position, or both – all in this one form. Scholarships are available for either the in-person or the virtual NTC experience, while volunteer opportunities are in person only.

As part of our commitment to equity and liberation, we work to ensure our programs and events include a diversity of voices and perspectives, and are as accessible as possible. We encourage people to apply who identify as Black, Indigenous, or other people of color, as well as those who are gender nonconforming, disabled, LGBTQIA+, or from other historically marginalized communities.
What do you want to apply for?*
You may select one or both options. If you select both and you’re not awarded a scholarship, you’ll automatically be considered for a volunteering position (remember, volunteers must commit to eight hours of service).

Scholarship questions

Answer the following questions to apply for a scholarship to 26NTC in person or virtually.
Do you wish to attend in person or virtually?*
We have 50 in-person and 50 virtual scholarships to offer this year. Please indicate how you'd like to attend the NTC. You can select both if you do not have a preference.
How would you categorize your organization?*

What is your organization’s budget?*

Scholarship terms

You must check each box to acknowledge that you understand these terms that apply if you receive a scholarship.
What's covered*
If awarded, an NTC scholarship will cover conference registration only. It does not cover travel and accommodation.
Deadline to accept*
If I’m awarded a scholarship I cannot accept, I must notify NTEN no later than February 20, 2026 for an in-person scholarship or February 28, 2026 for a virtual scholarship. Failing to notify NTEN by these deadlines may jeopardize my chance to receive future scholarships.
Change and cancellation policy*
I have read and accept the change and cancellation policy, including that scholarship registrations cannot be transferred and requests to switch from a virtual to in-person registration or vice versa may not be possible or permitted.

Volunteering questions

Answer these questions to apply to be a volunteer at the 26NTC event in Detroit. Virtual volunteer positions are not available.
Are you an NTEN member?*
We give priority to NTEN members for volunteer slots. If you are a member, you will be able to log in to your NTEN account and view your membership status under Account Settings.
Have you previously volunteered at an NTC?*
We want to give you a role that fits your strengths and comfort zone. Roles may include standing for several hours, sitting for several hours, lifting and carrying materials (up to 25 pounds), helping people find their way, badge pickup, supporting affinity groups, and being a room monitor. Describe what you are not able or willing to do.
What times are you not available?*
Mark all the times that you absolutely cannot volunteer. We give priority to people who have availability throughout most of the conference. Times are approximate. Shifts may be at slightly different times or lengths based on the volunteer role you’re assigned. Shifts will conflict with sessions, meals, and other activities.
Provide the name and phone number of an emergency contact who can be reached during the NTC.

Volunteering terms

You must check each box to acknowledge that you understand these terms that apply if you’re selected as a volunteer.
Selection*
Applying for a volunteer position does not guarantee that I will be selected.
Volunteer obligations*
I must commit to volunteering for eight hours during the NTC. Most shifts are one to four hours long. Shifts will conflict with sessions, meals, and other activities. I will not be able to participate in conference activities that conflict with my volunteer shifts.
Registration*
If selected to volunteer, I will register myself for the NTC at the discounted volunteer registration rate of $100.
Change and cancellation policy*
I have read and accept the change and cancellation policy, including that volunteer registrations cannot be transferred, are only for in Detroit, and cannot be switched to virtual.
